Japanese Chinoiserie Kutani Geisha Lithophane 15pc Porcelain Demitasse Tea Set. Today we are happy to offer for sale a beautiful vintage Japanese porcelain Lithophane demitasse tea set! This beautiful set is finely crafted and detailed of very fine and thin porcelain. The pieces are expertly hand-painted with a peacock in floral garden motif in vivid colors accented with gold. The bottom of each demitasse cup features the lithophane likeness of a beautiful Geisha. A lithophane is an etched or molded artwork in very thin translucent porcelain that can be seen clearly only when back lit with a light source. It is a design in intaglio that appears "en grisaille" (in gray) tones. The set is composed of a coffee/tea pot, sugar and creamer and six cups and saucers. Tea set presents well and is in very good vintage condition, with very minor wear and patina commensurate with age. Two teacups have stable (and hard to notice) fractures. There is very minimal loss to gilding. Add elegant Japanese style and grace to any fine porcelain collection with this fabulous set..
