Exquisite Decorative TEAPOT Set w/TEAPOT & LID, SUGAR & LID & CREAMER. DESCRIPTION: The beautiful hand decorated set was produced with beautiful solid and stippled gold on the high white porcelain. The design looks so classic. The feet of each piece are trimmed in gold. The lids for the sugar bowl and the teapot are interchangeable. This makes a beautiful display set or can be used everyday. CONDITION: While this set is classified as used, the condition is superb. There are no chips, nicks, cracks, rubbings, scratches or hairlines. There are no utensil marks. There is no wear to the gold.

DIMENSIONS: The teapot has a maximum diameter of 5 1/8", handle to spout measurement of 7 7/8" and a height to the top of the lid of 5 3/4. The sugar has a maximum diameter of 4 3/4", handle to handle measurement of 6 1/4" and a height to the top of the lid of 4 3/4.

The creamer has a maximum diameter of 3 3/4", handle to spout measurement of 4 3/4" and a height of 4. The teapot capacity is 3 cups and the creamer capacity is 9 ounces. HISTORY/MARKS: The factory was founded in 1881 by Christian Heinrich Schumann in Arzberg, Bavaria after being forced to close his previous pottery (founded 1876) due to the development of a rail road through the factory.

Upon his death, the pottery was run by his widow until his youngest son, Carl Schumann I, married in 1896 and assumed management. The company was incorporated in July of 1923. In 1926, Carl's son, who had been studying in America, assumed leadership after his father's untimely death at 55. After WWII, the pottery flourished, but never regained its prior success as Japanese products flooded the American & European markets. The business stayed in the family until it was closed in 1994.

The teapot is simply marked Germany, but definitely matches the creamer & sugar in style and mold shape plus the lids are identical and interchangeable.
